Statement Sunday: First and Second Eleven Deliver Big Wins

Weekend Match Reports

Not that they did, but if ever Ben and the boys needed a statement victory of ‘bouncebackability’ they provided it today!

Enfield won the toss and batted first on a glorious day at The Brooks Foundation Ground. Anyone would’ve thought it was mid-July — okay, it was a little bit windy.

Enfield managed to make 210 for 7 off their 50 overs, with their sub professional scoring 102. Tom Walker took a fiery three-fer, backed up by some tight bowling from Dan and Paddy.

In reply, last year’s Lowerhouse came out like they’d never been away, with Ben and Jonny finding the boundary early on. At 69 for 2, following the loss of Ben and Jonny, Dan and Tom came together and never looked back.

A sublime partnership of 143 saw Lowerhouse cruise to victory, with Tom finishing on 81 off 83 balls and Dan 62 off 95 balls, getting the job done with 11.4 overs to spare.

This was Toms highest score for Lowerhouse in the league and he passed 1500 league runs. Batted Tom 👏

Dec Stanny’s Second Eleven made it two from two after stepping up a division.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Lowerhouse posted 217 for 7 off their 45 overs, recovering brilliantly from 33 for 4.

Chris Bleazard led the way with 58, while the lower order rallied superbly — Jack Simm (39), Charlie Bithell (27) and Kheiro Chir (21) all making valuable contributions.

It then became the Yanis Chir show, as he bowled Rochdale out for just 73, taking an outstanding 5 for 13 from 7.2 overs. Charlie Bithell and Shaukat Ali chipped in with two wickets apiece.
