The Weekend Roundup

The First Eleven played Padiham on Friday night in a Friendly for Casual Minds Matter – a mental health charity. £1240 was raised in an immense turnout and this will now be an annual event. Padiham took the spoils in the cricket. Lowerhouse won the toss and elected to bat posting 149/6 off their 20 overs. Runs were shared with nearly every batter getting starts, Tom Walker top scored with 36. In reply, Padihams’ pro and ex Lowerhouser Jack Edgar hit a quick fire 45 off 20 balls to get them off to a good start but Jimmy Gray finished the show with 42 off 19 balls with Padiham hitting the target off 17.5 overs, 5 wickets down.

On Saturday the Third and Fourth Eleven suffered losses.

The Third team, away at Enfield, won the toss, batted first and were 84 all out off 30.1 overs. Keagan De Vries steadied the ship with 46. In reply, Enfield knocked them off 2 down off 20 overs.

THe Fourth Team took on Greenmount Thirds who won the toss and batted first, posting 262/2 off their 40. House were bowled out for 108 in reply. Grace Johnson scored 29 at the top of the order

On Sunday there were wins for the Firsts and Seconds!

The Second team played at home against Crompton. Crompton won the toss and elected to bat.House bowled them out for 155 off 41.3 overs. Matt Hope got 5 wickets with Tom Halstead and Charlie Bithell taking two a piece. It took 32.5 overs to knock them off 5 down with Jack Simm scoring 41 and Declan Metcalfe and Keagen De Vries seeing us over the line not out with 28* and 18* respectively.

The First Team won the toss and batted first at Middleton, sub pro Ian Holland restricted the top order to 58 for 4. Middleton rallied and built through the middle of the innings and posted 197/7 off their 50 overs. In reply House got off to a good start being 52/1 but had a slight mid order collapse. They followed the theme of the season so far with the never say die attitude. Ben Heap knuckled down with an impressive 83, and Thomas Walker and Joe Hawke batted with patience again, to put on 46 together. Thomas was adjudged LBW, with Toxy coming in to hit the winning runs with 5 balls to spare. Tom finished on 32 and Joey 29 not out, to see House take the top of the league.
