First Eleven v Norden
Ben Heap won the toss and elected to bat first on a glorious Saturday at The Brooks Foundation Ground against Norden.
Ben fell early with the score on 8 and Lowerhouse stuttered to 67 for 4, with the top four all back in the pavilion, each dismissed bowled.
Francois Haasbroek and Tom Walker joined forces and rebuilt the innings superbly, adding 72 runs before Francois departed for 41 with the score on 139. With plenty of overs still available, Lowerhouse continued to score at a healthy rate.
Paddy Martin joined Tom and another excellent partnership developed. Tom went on to play a brilliant innings of 84, helping take the score to 242 for 7. Lowerhouse eventually closed on 272 for 9 from their 50 overs, with Paddy dismissed from the final ball after a cracking 56. Jonny Whitehead also contributed an important 27.
Norden made a blistering start in reply, reaching 105 for 2, but Lowerhouse fought back impressively as the visitors slipped to 117 for 5. Shaukat Ali was again among the wickets, taking 3 for 32 from 8 overs, including the key wicket of Norden’s professional.
Tom Walker returned after an interrupted opening spell and mopped up the tail, finishing with 4 for 75 from 10.3 overs to complete a fine all-round performance.
Lowerhouse bowled Norden out for 227 in 46.3 overs to secure a 45-run victory and claim 12 points.
Second Eleven v Norden
The Second Eleven won the toss and elected to bat first away at Norden, posting 198 all out from 42.3 overs.
Chris Bleazard top scored with 54 as Lowerhouse battled hard to set a competitive target.
In reply, Norden reached their target with seven wickets down and three overs remaining.
Oliver Williams, Jax Edwards and Charlie Bithell each picked up two wickets as Lowerhouse earned three points from the contest.
