Lowerhouse Fourth Eleven played their penultimate game of the season at home to Accrington earlier today.
Lowerhouse won the toss and elected to bowl, making a superb start with the visitors quickly finding themselves in all sorts of trouble at 29 for 9. Accrington showed some resistance to recover their total slightly, eventually being bowled out for 65 from 19.1 overs.
Oliver Roberts was the standout bowler, taking an excellent 5 for 11 from his five overs, while Josh Brennand claimed 3 for 12 from his five.
However, Lowerhouse were unable to take their momentum into the chase. In a remarkable turnaround, they mirrored Accrington’s early struggles and were bowled out for 25 from 20.1 overs. Josh Brennand top scored with 8.
It was certainly a tough afternoon for the young Fourth Eleven, but one that will provide plenty of lessons and experience. Days like these are all part of the development of a young side, and the team will be looking to finish their season positively in their final game.
