From an article by Don Smith:
The holiday period can be an anxious time for cricket clubs, particularly if they are chasing a championship or needing a points boost. Team changes are necessary owing to family travel arrangements. After his half century against Todmorden 2nd at Centre Vale, Mike Jones is restored to the West Enders’ first team in place of Mike Burnett. This is the only change in the senior side. Lowerhouse visit Nelson tomorrow. In recent seasons Lowerhouse have managed to create an impression at Seedhill even if they have not annexed the points. Although Collie King remains one of their principal rivals between them and success they should return to scoring form after the lamentable collapse against Todmorden. A good performance would restore confidence in themselves and the faith of their supporters The Lowerhouse officials can take heart from the performances and form of the youngsters, particularly the under 15’s team which is making its presence felt among the other clubs in the area. They have won all their last three matches and the club’s second team won at Centre Vale last Saturday, with Roger Bromley amongst the wickets.
