HELPING BURNLEY MEN TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR PROSTATE HEALTH 💙
Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men during their lifetime, making early detection incredibly important!
This is something that is not often offered at the doctors, which is why this initiative is so important.
The Mayoress’s Committee, the East Lancs Prostate Cancer Support Group and Charter Walk Shopping Centre are helping to make prostate health testing accessible to men across Burnley and East Lancashire.
The initiative is part of the Mayor of Burnley’s chosen charity project for his civic year.
The Mayoress’s Committee has worked hard to raise funds by establishing and running a pop-up shop in Howe Walk, filled with generously donated clothes, bric-a-brac, books and other items.
The Mayoress’s Committee has fundraised for 100 tests, and Charter Walk Shopping Centre has generously agreed to support the initiative by funding an additional 100 tests, bringing the total to 200 spaces! 🙌✨
💙 The test costs £26, but participants pay just £5, thanks to the £21 subsidy provided through this fundraising initiative and Charter Walk’s support.
The blood test is available to men aged 40 and over and is simple and non-invasive.
This is a simple blood test. There is no physical or internal examination. Each participant will receive their result by email or letter.
