Derby Day Despair!

The lads lost by 5 wickets at Turf Moor on Saturday largely thanks to a unbeaten century by Burnley professional Jeeva Kulatunga (101). The Sri Lankan survived being caught by Jonathon Finch at point on 65 only to dispute that the catch had been taken cleanly and stand his ground.  Unfortunately for House the umpires sided with Kulatunga and he was able to steer Burnley to victory with time and wickets to spare.

Lowerhouse had first use of the pitch and we made 192-8 from our 50 overs. The pro top scored with 83 including six sixes and four fours.  He was well supported by Hassan Khan (32) and Will Driver (22). Bharat Tripathi 4-43 and James Capstick 3-29 were the pick of the Burnley bowlers . The retiring Matt Hope was the pick of the Lowerhouse bowlers with 3-17. There will be more on Matt’s retirement on site shortly.

There was no play at Bacup on the Sunday as the rains returned.
