Help Us Put the Ground to Bed for Winter

As we approach the penultimate weekend of the 2027 cricket season, our thoughts turn to the important task of ‘putting the ground to bed’ for the winter.

This operation is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, 14th and 15th September 2026, and the work carried out over these two days will make a huge difference in preparing our cricket ground for the winter months and the season ahead.

The work will involve:

• Mowing, scarifying, sorrel rolling and brushing the square.
• Spreading around 150 bags of loam, along with several bags of seed and fertiliser.
• Watering the ground to ensure it remains in the best condition possible.

There are also a number of additional jobs to complete, including taking down the sightscreen and cover sheets, as well as moving benches and bins.

It is a big job, and any help we can get will make a real difference.
