Spotlight on our Supporters – Gary Ingham

We tried to ask Gary Ingham a few questions and he never replied. He then threw his teddy out when his fellow supporters were getting the limelight and he wasn’t. Anyway, when he finally got round to replying, this is what he said!

When did you start supporting the club and why?

I moved to Burnley from Rawtenstall in 1988 and I probably nipped down to Lowerhouse to check it out a couple of years later. Didn’t start going on regular until around 1999/2000.

What was your favourite Lowerhouse game?

Winning our first trophy in the gloom at the Worsley Cup final of 2004 probably just edges out the title winning match at Rawtenstall the year after.

What is your favourite thing to happen at Lowerhouse (non cricket)?

Watching Dan Statham nearly getting stuck in the Liverpool Road fence taking a shortcut up to the barge last year. Or listening to Frank Entwistles’ tales of heroism in the streets around turf moor cricket ground.

What are your hopes for Lowerhouse for the future?

To keep up the tradition of young players moving into the first team. A production line of talent that everyone at the club must be proud of.

Do you have any pre game rituals?

Usually argue with my wife that I will NOT come home drunk from the game.

How do you keep yourself busy in winter?

Usually watch a lot of footy and do a lot of DIY because from April to September I haven’t time for some reason.

How will we do this season ?

From reading some of the players interviews they seem well up for it this year. So with that in mind  and hopefully  a full squad to choose from ALL SEASON I expect we will be going all out to get our League title back. I go on holiday on the 23rd August and when I return  I fully expect to see Captain Cottam lifting another league trophy on  the 7th September at home to Accy (no pressure)
