Spotlight on the skies – An interview with Rhys Woodworth

· When did you first come down to the Lowerhouse?
I first came down to watch my father wicketkeep for the Second XI as we were short of players, and a few appearances for the 1sts. Also me, corey, jonny, josh, joe and paddy, matt water, Adam and Scott used to play test match in the nets every weekend as young guns…those wut days
· What have you been doing over the winter?
– In training over the winter at the boxing sessions Charlie has put on. Been training like mad with Scott Hope who found this website where you can ripped in 3 weeks following 1 simple step for just $9.95, trying to get fit to have a fight with Haggers but he wouldn’t accept the challenge. Something to do with him not being able to see because his glasses\bins keep steaming up.
· What’s your favourite memory off the field?

Haggers throwing his toys out of the pram on the last game of the season last year at Todmorden because someone had cut the ends off his socks and when he tried to put them on, they ended half way up his calfs. During the same game Haggers said he got bounced out by Tod’s opening bowler because he forgot to take his guard. Nothing to do with the fact he was bricking it and standing on the square leg umpires toes then eh Philbert.
· What’s your favourite memory on the field?
Haggers asking me about my ‘bins’ and asking how I stopped them from steaming up. Also numerous others to mention involving myself…namely the near-impossible diving stop I did at haslingden, only to throw the ball over the ropes as I went to fire the ball in over the stumps.
· What is your favourite aeroplane and why?
This is a very open question. Concorde was so gracious and elegant, as well as being incredibly advanced technically for its time, to see that bird fly it gives you goosebumps. Just a shame spiralling maintenance costs and poor fuel efficiency led to its early retirement. The aircraft that I admire at the moment more than any other though would be the Bombardier C-series. This aircraft will be a direct rival to the giants that are airbus and boeing. The most significant part to the C-series is the engines, designed by pratt & whitney and are the first aviation engines to be geared, similar to a car, therefore offering the highest level of fuel efficiency and lowest fuel cost per passenger mile in its particular field. The cockpit is also a significant update on the EFIS system (Electronic Flight Instrumentation System) by having a heads up display (although this is also commong in the Boeing 737 Next-Generation series of aircraft), and the radio stack being above the PFD (primary flight display) so that the Pilots can continuously monitor the surrounding airspace for any other aircraft in the vicinity preventing any mid air collision and not relying whole heartedly on TCAS (traffic collision avoidance system). So currently id say the Bombardier CS300 would be my favourite aircraft at the minute. Sadly only one UK airline has ordered the aircraft, Odyssey Airlines, who have ordered 10 of the type. Monarch are also rumoured to be considering the aircraft with its fleet expansion however this is not to be announced until the next quarter. Exciting times for aviation industry.

· What are you hopes for the future?
1) That corey hope is capable of balling a 6-ball over, 2)Kieron Tighe purchases new sweat bands, 3) Josh Lavin bowlss without munching on his tongue
· What are your predictions for the season? –

Strong league finish and a decent cup run would be fantastic, i’d love to play a semi-final or even a final down at the house! especially if the team play to their ability and Haggers bats for something other than the batting prize then we are definitely strong candidates this year.
