Lowerhouse Cricket Club are delighted to announce the signing of former England ODI and Twenty20 international, Stephen Parry as professional for the 2021 and 2022, JW Lees Lancashire League Cricket Seasons.

Parry, a right handed batsman and slow left arm bowler has this week announced his departure from first class cricket with Lancashire, a county he has served with distinction since his debut in 2007.  He leaves as Lancashire’s all time leading Twenty20 wicket taker.

Rated by many as one of the best white ball spinners in English cricket he has represented England seven times – twice in ODIs alongside five IT20 appearances. Alongside representing Lancashire and England he has also played for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash.

Parry enjoyed arguably his most productive summer in 2015, taking 25 wickets in the T20 Blast as Lancashire claimed their maiden title making him the competitions joint leading wicket-taker.

He first played international cricket for England against the West Indies in early 2014 taking 3-32 on his ODI debut in Antigua and being named man of the match.  His form earned him a call up to play in the ICC World T20 in Bangladesh.

Parry who also represented England Lions, earned a recall to England’s limited overs squads for their 2016 tour to the UAE to face Pakistan.

Due to the restrictions of COVID19 his 2020 Lancashire Testimonial Year will carry over into 2021 and the club are very much looking forward to being a part of this.

Stephen Parry said “I am delighted to sign for Lowerhouse and I am really looking forward to the next two summers and beyond. 2020 has been a strange year and I can’t wait to get started in 2021. Lowerhouse skipper Ben Heap commented; “The signing of Stephen has everyone involved at the club eagerly awaiting the 2021 season. His character and personality has left those that have already met him feeling rejuvenated and excited after a difficult year for everyone. Most of all, to have a Professional around the club who has represented England in the very recent past is something that I never thought would happen in this day and age. The experience that his achievements bring, will prove invaluable for myself and the 1st XI. Being a local lad and having strong roots in club cricket I’m sure Stephen will be a hit on and off the pitch at Lowerhouse. I look forward to seeing our best young prospects learn from him & our senior sides competing on all fronts.
