1982: Who are DCC?

Anne Cochrane has just added the following images to BCTHIC archive, and Rosegrove played a team called DCC in 1982 – most of the Rosegrove team are well known, but if you know what DCC stands for, please get in touch on social media or email adam@lowerhousecc.com

Rosegrove have done the double. After dominating A Division, the champions from the Sunday School League have taken the Cowpe Shield as well. They took the knock-out final with comparative ease against DCC at Turf Moor on Saturday. But it was not all plain sailing. DCC did bowl them out for 86 in 22 overs. David Whitehead with 30 was the only batsman to make his mark. Bill Simpson took three for 29 and Brian Pate claimed five for 45. However, DCC’s reply never came close to the target. Peter Doney, (four for 14) and David Ashworth (five for 30) made sure of the Rosegrove double as their rivals slumped to 44 all out. The shield and the league’s other trophies will be awarded at a special presentation at Lowerhouse Cricket Club on Friday, October 15th.

This is a photo of the defeated Cowpe Shield finalists, DCC. As this image was not published, the players (and what DCC stands for ) were not identified, other than their bowlers named in the article, Bill Simpson and Brian Pate.
