Ben Heap Becomes Lowerhouse’s Most-Capped Lancashire League Captain
Today marks another historic milestone for Lowerhouse Cricket Club as Ben Heap captains the First Eleven in a Lancashire League match for the 201st time, overtaking Charlie Cottam’s long-standing club record of 200 games to become the man who has captained Lowerhouse more times in Lancashire League cricket than anyone else in our history.
Ben took over the captaincy from Charlie Cottam ahead of the 2017 season and, over the last decade, has overseen one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.
Records like this are not achieved overnight. They are earned through years of commitment, consistency and leadership, and Ben has embodied all three throughout his time as skipper.
His record as captain speaks for itself. Under his leadership, Lowerhouse have:
- Won the Lancashire League title
- Finished as Lancashire League runners-up in 2018
- Lifted three Worsley Cups
- Won three Ron Singleton Trophies
- Captained the side at Old Trafford in the shared Lancashire Cup Final
Beyond the silverware, Ben has led the club through countless memorable victories, high-pressure moments and unforgettable occasions, setting standards on and off the field while helping to shape the modern era of Lowerhouse Cricket Club.
