Nigel Brown wins Special Award

Congratulations to Nigel Brown on winning the ECB category 1 Special Achievement Award for Coaching , presented to him at the recent England v Sri Lanka Test Match by Mark Ramprakash.

This very top award is fully and long deserved for Nigel who is the Lancashire winner and nomination.

On a personal note, Lowerhouse Cricket Club has come a long way in the last 16 years. Many people have played a large, small, short or long part in this. All deserve equal recognition and hopefully we will ensure that all receive due acknowledgement in the fullness of time. This is however an appropriate time to recognise Nigel’s contribution.

I will always regard Nigel as the club’s best signing.

Nigel was encouraged to the club in 2002 and from that date we have seen a marked rise in the technical ability of the players at the club, and a marked rise in the inclusion of promising youngsters in the senior set up at the club. Although an adopted Lowerhouser Nigel has a burning passion for Lowerhouse CC and only wants the very best for our players.
His passion for cricket means that Nigel has taken the lead role in the development of the Lancashire Junior League under 12 and 14 squads and in the interest of cricket develops players from many clubs. Great credit to him for this.

However I make no apology for focusing on our club. This club thrives on the involvement of its juniors and their parents, many of whom take that involvement through to the seniors. I know too that our members and spectators like nothing better than to see one of our juniors move through to first eleven success. Though not alone in this, Nigel Brown’s input into training and development has ensured that we have a future legacy of at least 25 years and continuing.

Nigel, on behalf of all at the club , and indeed many outside the club, especially the Lancashire Junior League, many congratulations on your fully deserved award…
